Omah Lay grew up in Port Harcourt and started making music at a young age. He was influenced by his grandfather who was a percussionist for the legendary Nigerian highlife musician, Celestine Ukwu. Omah Lay's music is a blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and hip-hop.
In 2019, Omah Lay released his debut single, "Do Not Disturb," which gained some traction in Nigeria. However, it was his second single, "Bad Influence," released in 2020, that brought him to the limelight.
