Manchester United's second signing of the summer transfer window is nearly over the line as Andre Onana is poised to sign for the Old Trafford club.

The goalkeeper has flown to the UK after United agreed a deal with Inter Milan for the stopper's services. The Reds have agreed a €55m fee with the Serie A side for the 27-year-old, who looks set to become Erik ten Hag's second major signing this summer.

United had already signed midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea and Onana is poised to become United's next number one goalkeeper. He will fill the void left following the departure of long-serving goalkeeper David de Gea at the expiry of his contract at the end of June.

Upon Onana's arrival, the focus at Old Trafford will then be able to fully switch to bringing in a striker to the club. Several players including the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani are on the club's shortlist, as well as Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

But there is also action on the pitch to look forward to today. United began their pre-season campaign last week with a win over Leeds United in Oslo and continue it this evening when they take on French side Lyon in Edinburgh, after which they will fly out to the United States for the rest of their pre-season tour with several more games on a busy schedule between now and the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Onana labels United move 'irresistible'

Andre Onana says he couldn't resist moving to Old Trafford.

“The important thing is to be honest and always tell people the truth. I am a person who always wants new challenges. Playing in the Premier League and for a club like United is irresistible,” Onana told Gazzetta delo Sport.

“All parties wanted this to happen. But what matters is that if I had stayed, I would have been happy because I never had any problems at Inter.”
