Two previous Nigeria internationals, John Mikel Obi and Mercy Akide are in the panel of specialists for the 2023 FIFA The Best Honor. 

Mikel and Akide are two of the 30 people who made the shortlist for The Best Awards. 

Mikel is one of the 11 shortlist members for the men's category, while Akide, a former Super Falcons forward, is at the top of the list of women's nominees. 

In the board is likewise previous Ivory Coast Global Didier Drogba.
