Tribunal Upholds Gov Eno’s Victory, Strikes Out APC’s Udofia Case - Akwa Ibom

On Thursday, the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which was in Uyo, maintained Minister Umo Eno of Individuals' Leftist alliance, PDP, as the state's new lead representative.

The request documented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its up-and-comer, Obong Akan Udofia, challenging Umo Eno's political race triumph was excused by the three-judge board led by Equity Adekunle Adeleye for absence of legitimacy.

Umo Eno was proclaimed the victor of the Walk 18, 2023 political decision by the Free Public Discretionary Commission (INEC).

Eno crushed Representative Akpan of the Youthful Progressives Party (YPP) and Obong Akan Udofia of the APC, who each got 136, 262 and 129, 602 votes, individually, with a sum of 356, 346 votes.

Akan Udofia and his party moved toward the Council to demand the exclusion of Governor Eno in light of the fact that he had submitted manufactured archives to INEC and had supposedly neglected to get most of genuine votes in the governorship political race. This was done on the grounds that they were discontent with the result that had been proclaimed by INEC.

Eno, who was added as the second respondent in the constituent case, was likewise guaranteed by the candidates to be ineligible to run for the political decision being referred to on the grounds that he had recently been found blameworthy by an Abuja Magistrate Court.

Nonetheless, the Council board found that the applicants had not given adequate proof to help their cases that the lead of the governorship political race had not conformed to the constituent Demonstration 2022 in its decision on Thursday.

The Equity Adeleye's board likewise decided that Pastor Umo Eno's previous conviction by the Judge court was negated by that court's choice. When a judgment is negated, it does not exist anymore, as per the Equity Adeleye's board.

The Council further held that Pastor Eno, the subsequent respondent, is qualified and that the High Court has proactively decided that the 1981 and 1983 WAEC declarations he submitted to INEC are genuine.

It in this manner struck the declaration of the solicitors' summoned observer, an eminent Interpol official who showed up to introduce a report on the second respondent's WAEC results.

The board consistently dismissed the applicants' contentions with respect to the legitimacy of a similar justice's choice to upset its own choice, underscoring that it was not the court's liability to make that assurance. The Abuja High Court is skilled to deal with that. ".

Moreover, the Council excused Udofia's reason for a request testing the qualification of Representative Bassey Akpan of the YPP, who got 136,262 votes to complete second in the political race.

The APC and Udofia, the court demanded.

As it is a party make a difference to conclude who arises as its up-and-comer, the contention that Representative Albert was ineligible to be handled by YPP on the grounds that he had recently campaigned for a similar position in the PDP was unwarranted.

Equity Kadi Usman Sikudu conveyed the almost four-drawn out judgment.

Because of the decision, Essien Udom (SAN), the Akwa Ibom State head legal officer and one of lead representative Eno's lawyers, expressed gratitude toward the court for by and by maintaining the lead representative's political race.

"The request has been dismissed. It was basically impossible to have expected a more careful judgment than what was made. Everything was tended to exhaustively. We are content, he demanded.
