The General Manager of Inspiration 105.9FM, Uyo, Mr. Silas Ufot, has endorsed Arise Creative Champions 1.0, an initiative designed to discover, nurture, and empower young talents across Akwa Ibom State.
Mr. Ufot gave his endorsement on Thursday when the Arise Creative Champions Team paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Uyo.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Ufot described the initiative as “a timely intervention in the creative industry,” adding that it aligns perfectly with Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda, which emphasizes human capacity development, youth empowerment, and enterprise creation.
“What the Arise Creative Champions is doing is beyond entertainment. It is building the next generation of entertainers, content creators, innovators, and industry leaders from Akwa Ibom. I strongly believe this platform will discover raw talents that can compete globally if given the right exposure and mentorship,” Ufot stated.
Also speaking, Emmanuel Owuala, Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative Talent Development, explained that the project is a statewide talent discovery and empowerment drive targeting six key sectors of the creative economy — music, film, fashion, dance, spoken word, and comedy.
“We are on a mission to turn passion into productivity and creativity into sustainable livelihoods for young Akwa Ibom people. This initiative will not only discover talents but also connect them to opportunities, mentors, and funding that will transform their careers,” Owuala said.
According to him, the competition will feature three Senatorial District Auditions in Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, and Eket, where 18 Champions (three per sector) will be selected from each district, making a total of 54 semifinalists.
From the semifinals, 18 Grand Finalists will emerge to compete in the grand finale for top prizes including cash awards, media exposure, and mentorship opportunities.
Owuala added that Arise Creative Champions 1.0 complements Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda by promoting youth development through creativity, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship — creating a generation of self-reliant young people who will contribute meaningfully to the state’s growing creative economy.
“Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda speaks to building people before projects, and that’s exactly what this initiative is doing — discovering, training, and empowering young creatives to build sustainable careers right here in Akwa Ibom,” he emphasized.
